28 Oct 7 – Rafters & Insulating
Action Shot!
And now we’re off to the races. The ever amazing Thom Huntington, aka Mas Leo, is providing lead carpentry skills.
We cut out every other rafter tie and doubled up the existing ones. Our primary reasoning was to provide better access for adding the OSB and Sheetrock layers as well as opening up the upper half for new and improved looks. After the doubling up we tackled the venting dilemma by extending the air channels up to the ridge vent at the peak. Sadly no photographs were taken of this most glamorous step.
Then it was my turn to pack the rafters with insulation. We used Roxul R30 which surprisingly in this climate doubled the insulating that was in place previously. Cozy, cozy, cozy.
