28 Oct 6 – Ceiling Demo
And here we go.
The ceiling drywall came down super easy but the strapping (the 1xs that run perpendicular to the rafter ties) were beasts. Each and every one.
This is my “what have I done” look. Emmett was a little unsure too. Happily the feeling passed quickly.
See. Happy Helper.
And this is how we ended the day. I was more than pleased with the way it was looking. You can see the rafter ties in place before we removed every other one. You can also see some sheets in the rafter bays, this was a small surprise. As it turns out it was a home-brew way of creating a vent channel to keep the air moving. We’ll need to figure out a way to mimic that with our new cathedral-like ceiling otherwise we could see some mold issues. No thanks.
Here are some different angles from the end of the day (after clean up).
Nice. Really Nice. I’m excited about how this is looking. Thanks Garet for being the wingman on this!
